Review: Kiniki Print Micro Bikini – Massimo

Kiniki Printed Micro Brief

Kiniki has been offering their line of prints for a while now, but I haven’t tried any out until now. They have added quite a few colorful prints options. I decided to go with their Massimo print in a micro brief. I went with the micro brief because I like their cotton stretch micro brief that I reviewed a little while back.

I’m a bit disappointed in the print micro brief. When I pulled it out it seemed to be smaller than the cotton stretch in the same size. Maybe it is the luck of the draw from the bin. With the micro brief already being a low rise cut, it was borderline where I really like my bikinis and thongs to sit. The printed micro brief doesn’t consistently stay where I want it. It likes to creep down on me over time. Next time I order I might try the next size up and see how it fits.

I do like the Massimo print, which I think looks like a snake or reptile print in purple. The fabric is a nice clingy one that holds everything nicely, so I’m happy with the fabric. It’s a poly lycra blend. Kiniki describes the fabric as soft and supportive that is cool and refreshing against the skin.

The pouch support would be good for sports or more intense exercising. The pouch is a flat front and not contoured for the boys like the stretch cotton. Though neither one I would say is a roomy pouch. The sides are about 1″. The back shows some cheek with it being a 3/4 back. Both of those are what I like to see in a pair. They can be machined washed, but should be hung to dry.

For now I’m going to give the printed micro briefs no thumbs up. If I get the size up and it fits better then thinking I’d go with one thong up. I’ll update the review if I size up. I like everything about it other than the creeping down. Don’t want them quite so low.

My Rating Overview

Support Rating: 5.0
Overall Comfort: 5.0
Recommendation: No thongs up

Pros: Nice supportive fabric, good selection of prints
Cons: Too low cut

Why should it be “luck of the draw from the bin” though. I have had the same experience with more than one company, but why should it be like this. Imagine getting a car with large gaps between the panels because the frame had been made larger than usual. Surely underwear is made to a pattern that has dimensions and possibly tolerances, much like an engineering drawing. So why can’t these companies get a more consistent fit of their products. It’s not impossible, GroovinStore manages it.

I will say that the fabric mentioned is as described, I have other styles in this poly/lycra fabric and they are comfortable.

I’m sure if you mentioned the name Kiniki to almost any guy passing by on your local high street, most would give you a blank look. A few film buffs might wrongly suggest one of the main characters in the film Grease(similar sounding name, different spelling),but only a bona fide underwear connoisseur would know it was an English based designer underwear company of many years standing.

I bought the tanga version of this design many years ago and I’m pretty sure it had a different name back then, possibly “Serpent” or something similar.Anyway,I do remember wearing it on a crowded Sicilian beach some years ago and even though there were lots of sexy Italian guys sporting skimpy speedos,my Kiniki tanga was briefer than them all.

I would say to any guy looking to buy the kind of skimpy swim brief that you don’t see in the local shops,to check out the Kiniki website, especially when they have regular sales with huge discounts.

Could be the same or similar pattern that they replicated in their underwear print line. I think I tracked down the name of the one you are talking about a while back, but I can’t remember the name I confirmed it as. Serpent sounds like it would be a good name for it.

I have this print in a tanga that I ordered some years ago. I do agree in the variation of their underwear. A tanga or two in the order I made a few years ago, the pouch was too small and very uncomfortable. I wish underwear companies would be more consistent in their sizing, when things like this happen it makes me not want to spend my money on them again as you never know what you are going to get.
