Review: MCE swim briefs (bi the way)

MCE Creations Swim Brief

I actually bought this swim brief about two years ago from MCE Creations. It’s taking me a while to really decide my thoughts on it. Still I’m kind of on the fence with it. I want to really like it, but it’s falling short of checking all the boxes it needs to check.

First let’s look at the details on this MCE swim brief. It’s made out of a blend of 90% polyester and 10% spandex. It has a partially center seamed pouch to give the base of the pouch some contouring. The pouch is lined. The sides measure about 2 ½”. The swim brief also has a drawstring, They do have their logo printed on the left hip. The pair says it can be washed cold, but lay it flat to dry. The swim brief is manufactured in China.

I decided to try this swim brief, because I was looking to add another somewhat conservative swim brief to my swim collection. I think it looked like a decent cut, fun pattern, and a brand I hadn’t tried yet. The fabric selection is excellent. It has a good stretch while having a good hold of the body still. I find it to be really comfortable. My issue with the pair is the pouch, I don’t feel it fits me right. Maybe there isn’t quite enough upfront for the design. I think the partial center seam contour is coming up too far. If it was a short seam then maybe that would fix it. Other option would be a full center seam though I know some don’t like the pattern being broken up. With the stretch of the fabric a no seam pouch would probably work well too. The overall coverage is pretty spot on for what I like in what I call a conservative swim brief.

The pouch of the swim brief is what is holding me back from really recommending this brief. I wouldn’t say not to buy it if you find the style of any interest. Maybe the pouch will fit you better than I feel it fits me. The bi the way pattern I didn’t notice it still being available in the brief (there was still a thong available in it). There are other options available in the cut still.

I love the pattern. For me I’d prefer something that got narrower sides and a bit more of a pouch, but the backside is almost perfect.

I fully agree! The pouch on MCE’s swimwear is so weird. I think it needs to be lined more? But they are probably going for a sheer/lightweight pouch. Their products seem nice but in reality when you get them, it’s almost as if they selected the wrong fabric for the product. Turned me off from the brand entirely.

Glad it isn’t just me with the pouch. It is always disappointing when you try a new brand and it doesn’t work out.

Looks like a nice brief. Love the bright pattern. It’s maybe a bit too wide for my liking. As for pouches and linings, I usually make the lining narrower by trimming it so that there is just a narrower panel which actually allows the fabric to stretch a little bit more.
