Do straight guys wear bikinis and/or thongs?

This seems to be a question that I see a lot when searching the Internet. I know when I started I wanted to find others with the same interests in skimpy underwear. So here’s the answer.

Do straight guys wear bikini and thongs?

Yes, straight males do wear bikinis and thongs. It’s a stereotype that it’s just gay guys who wear them and they’re only for women. Both straight and gay guys wear the whole range of underwear styles from thongs to boxers. It’s all a personal preference of what you are comfortable with wearing.

I personally prefer thongs and bikinis over any other style of underwear. I find them more comfortable and offer better support. They’re also much cooler and I like how I look in them. Also there is quite a range in styles, fabrics, colors, and patterns to choose from. Then I prefer to wear a swim brief over other swimwear for similar reasons plus they have faster drying time and you feel more free in the water. Also better tan lines if you’re not subject to sunburns.

It’s something which has troubled me for a long time and ever since the style of he speedo bikini was made unfashionable by the board shorts. Speedo bikinis were the ‘norm’ when I was growing up so I guess it’s why I still favour them. My collection is varied though my wife made me ditch quite a few she found ‘distasteful’! Can’t really wear most of them where I live but in Europe no-one seems to care. Recently wore a miniscule white bikini at a hotel pool in the Netherlands before reverting to naked like most other people!! Also wore a turquoise Kiniki micro bikini in Poland which had very little support and quite bulging let alone a bit transparent. Again no one cared. Quite a number of years ago I wore a tiny yellow string bikini by Dore at a private pool of our rented villa when visited by the rather large lady from the agents. She smiled and gave compliments but not bothered! Yes there are the modern day fashionistas who label anyone in a ‘speedo’ – ranges from any brevity or make of bikini style swimsuit- as gay. Some may be but I’m not. I think fashions will revert especially when divers at Olympics and similar events wear quite skimpy speedo styles. I’ll certainly keep wearing them!!

yes i,m straight guy and wear thongs all the time and when i go to the beach
and they are so comfy to

    • Thanks for for chiming in and helping point out straight guys can wear thongs and/or bikinis. Hopefully more will come to the realization.

    • Mr.Stsllion says:

I too wear thongs for underwear, and bikini briefs at the pool, yes I’m straight, yes I’m American, and yes I’m also black.
Despite our male egos, they do fit down there.
I know for a fact is the male ego that gets in the way.
Most straight men will say, “there’s not enough room in the pouch.” But I’ll let you in on a secret, there’s enough room for you and 2 or 3 more male genitals to fit down there.
Get over yourselves, and grow up.

      • Thanks for joining in and stating your claim to a thong and bikini wearer. Hopefully more will follow in our footsteps as they see there are more of us straight guys out there that do.

I’m 19 and I’ve recently been wearing thongs and bikini breifs since a year and a half ago, I am certainly not GAY and I have literally basically ditched all my boxer type underwear. Its just that they are really comfortable and I look great in them, so y not?:)

  4. Law says:

I am 36, blk, non gay, and confident I been wearing them since high school and I still prefer them over boxers. My girlfriend likes it and things are happy.
However there is a line…. I leave wearing thongs to women.

I am a heterosexual male. I wear all types of underwear and swimwear, including thong and string bikini. I find them comfortable, fashionable. Even some of my heterosexual male friends are now wearing thongs and string bikinis. The styles are great for underwear, lounge wear and swimwear. They and I don’t care what others think…it’s their opinion and narrow mindedness.

PS…I’m wearing a Papi Thong right now!

    • I agree that we shouldn’t care what others think and wear what we want. Harder for me to do that with swimwear than underwear. Did you convert your friends? I don’t know of any guys personally that wear bikinis and/or thongs. Thanks for the comment.

      • I stayed the night with a close friend of mine a few months back. When we were in for the night, and the pants came off, I was wearing a Joe Boxer thong. Brandon made a comment that it looked comfy. I had a pack of the thongs in my overnight bag. He grabbed one, put it on, and liked it. He wears thongs once or twice a week. He tried the String Bikini recently and likes them too! Our brother, Casey, he wears both too and likes them! Society can be so judgemental over the silliest things. My friends and I are straight…we just like thongs and string bikinis, along with other styles of underwear, swimwear, lounge wear & sleepwear.

Hello BD, you mentioned you don`t know any guys personally that wear bikinis or thongs. Just curious if you`ve seen other guys wearing them? When I was growing up I think they were a lot more common (esp in the 80s/90s) for guys to wear. My brother`s friend wore them. My brother and I would stay overnight sometimes and there his friend would strip down to his bikinis and sleep in them. I was envious of his cool underwear and wanted some myself. That same guy is a friend of mine now, I don’t know what he`s wearing for underwear these days but last time we were changing I think he was wearing boxerbriefs. I guess guys don`t really `discuss` underwear and what the other wears. It`s too bad that it`s viewed as something weird to talk about almost. I`m not sure if its just the culture here in North America, sometimes I think it is. It seems like other cultures in the world are a lot less judgemental than ours when it comes to fashion/style/underwear. I have a theory that its partly to do with the puritans that came over to north america. We have that puritan culture here which has its positives but also it`s negatives. Sorry if this is long-winded. Just wanted to comment and mention that I`ve had friends that were known bikini guys. For me, it was always a cool revelation to find that out. I worked on a construction crew once and we had to share a hotel room, and found out the bosses’ son wore bikinis! It was encouraging to see another guy comfortable in his underwear and own skin.

        • I haven’t noticed anyone wearing a bikini or a thong. People seem to stick to the norm of boxer, boxer briefs, or briefs. Maybe the ones wearing skimpy undies are hiding it. A lot of references to men’s bikinis and thongs are typically the butt of jokes or bad publicity it seems. It was nice when you could go to a local store and have some choices in at least bikinis. Still weren’t as nice as the ones you can by online, but at least they were in stores in-front of non-bikini wearers.

  6. Bikini Obsessed says:

I guess some guys don’t hide the fact that they’re wearing bikinis/thongs. Can you honestly say you’ve ‘never’ seen another guy wearing bikini briefs? At least that’s the way you make it sound (sorry if I sound accusatory or something). I’m just surprised to hear you say that you haven’t noticed anyone wearing bikini or thong. I have seen other guys periodically in the change room rockin’ a bikini. It’s rare but I have seen it. I guess I’ve been an on/off gym goer though. Boxers/boxer brief wearers are more common though.

    • I don’t recall a time. I haven’t really been in many locker rooms since college. I’ve seen the slimmer cut briefs in college, but not what I’d call a bikini.

    • Mark says:

I wore a cheeky pair of cobalt blue low rise bikini bottoms to an adult lane swimming session and it was the most exhilarating thing I’ve ever done, to be fair I would say I’m on the smaller than average size in my package department all the women must of know as they all made humiliating remarks and sniggers under their breath but I heard it and saucy comments and one said how brave I was when I was sat talking to her and went to hold my hand and rubbed my member instead I seen how embarrassing it was for her and for me but I quickly laughed it off and made her feel better about it and not to worry And she was stunning ? ??‍♀️ I’m my eyes she is 9.5/10 she also asked me to go bikini shopping at Cheshire oaks outlet but I have a girlfriend who doesn’t know I wear bikini bottoms to the pool because when I go with her I wear my speedos

  7. Jim says:

I am a straight 56 year old male and I wear nothing but bikini underwear. Going to try string bikinis next. I don’the care at all what other people may say about men wearing them. If you are comfortable with your own sensuality, why not wear them. I never saw rules that said bikini underwear are for females only. Be comfortable. Life is too short not to enjoy anything!

  8. Brad says:

My first year of college, my roommate wore bikini style undies. I liked them enough to buy a few to try. I enjoyed the fit a lot better than my boxers.
Later in the year, I met a girl and we dated and she liked my bikini undies.
One afternoon, we went to the pool. She looked great on her modest bikini and I wore my board shorts. That night during dinner she asked if I wore speedos, since I wore bikini undies. I didnt have any speedos, but kind of wanted to try them.
After dinner we went to three swim wear shops. I tried on a few she kind of liked, but didn’t like the fabric, colors, or design a whole lot. So we went to her place.
Her roommates were not home. She quickly ran to two different rooms and came back with two bikini bottoms. Hurry and try these on. Im not sure when they are going to be back. I ran into the bathroom. The bikini bottoms were cut exactly like a speedo. One is a medium and the other is a large. We both liked the look and feel of the large. We hurried and got the bikinis back before her roommates got back.
They felt great, looked like a speedo and more stretchy up front, since I’m bigger than average. She went online looking for Jelly Swimwear and bought four bikini bottoms.
It took some time to get use to them, since I was so used to board shorts. When we went swimming with our friends, nobody knew I was wearing a bikini bottom. I haven’t worn a board short since.

It was more of a dare I guess but I sort of wanted to try it anyways. .I had worn bikinis before but it was spring time and I had to go get a tan while wearing a bikini..Every time I looked in a mirror for about six months after, I got a reminder of what I had done . Had to keep my shirt on all summer. Im going to do it agsin as soon as the warm weather comes. As far as undewear, I hate boxers and only wear bikini nriefs.

  10. Bill says:

I wear thongs and bikinis both for 15 years. Mostly thongs. They are the most comfortable undies I’ve ever worn. And it was my girlfriend that encouraged me to start wearing them. And I’ve never looked back. The support they give especially in the gym are awesome. And yes sometimes they peek out. But I’ve never had any negative comments about it. Sometimes a guy will ask me what it’s like. Or will say he’d love to try them but he’s afraid people will think he’s gay. I always tell them underwear doesn’t determine your sexuality. More often than not they’ll come back to me later and say they tried them and love them. I say wear them and enjoy.

    • The Bottom Drawer says:

Bill, thanks for sharing. It’s awesome that it was the girlfriend that got you to give them a try. We need more of them like that. Also great you were able to get some guys to try them out by just wearing what you want at the gym.

      • Bill says:

I was in the gym this morning wearing a thong and a guy came up to me and said he could see my thong. I told him how comfy and supportive they are especially in the gym. He said he knew. He had seen me wearing them in there before and decided to give them a try and now he’s hooked. his girlfriend loves them and he said he threw away all his boxers. I told him to give bikinis a try as well. The polyester are the best. He’s gonna give them a try too. Another convert!!!

I’m 57 straight and had an inguinal hernia repaired last June and had pain in my scrotum every time I took a step. I told the surgeon about it when I went in for my 2 week post up follow-up visit.

He suggested that I start wearing support underwear. I had to wear jockstraps in boot camp during PT and hated them. I started ordering different thongs from several online sources as it’s impossible to find men’s things at any department stores (in my area anyway).

It took me a couple of days to get used to the material between my cheeks, but once I did I started wearing them every day. The pain went away within a week of wearing thong undies daily.

I love the feel of them as well as the support they provide. I have no desire or plan to stop wearing them exclusively in the future.

    • The Bottom Drawer says:

It’s hard to find thongs in a store unless you live near a men’s underwear store. Thanks for sharing your story. Glad you were able to control the pain and in the process discovered that thongs are a viable and comfortable option.

    • Bill says:

I have a friend that always thought thongs were for girls or gay guys till he had similar pain. His doctor put him in a thong while in the office and the pain stopped. He’s never worn boxers since. He’s not very open about wearing only thongs yet. But I’m working on him. All guys should wake up and by open to the great comfort we all have found.

  12. Dave says:

Hey Bill, since my surgeon recommended that I wear jocks or thongs to stop from being in pain I really don’t care what some others may think about men wearing them myself included. I hope your friend can come to the same conclusion.

  13. Jason says:

I’m 48 years-old and I have been wearing men’s bikini briefs since I was 15. Contrary to popular opinion (based mostly on uneducated ignorance), a man’s personal choice in undergarments DOES NOT determine his sexual orientation. Becoming gay by wearing bikini underwear is about as likely as becoming Rambo by wearing a camouflage T-shirt, BDU pants and army boots! The women in my life never had a problem with my choice in underwear, in fact, they quite liked seeing me wearing my bikini briefs. Wearing bikinis is not a gay issue, it’s a matter of personal choice, I love women, I love p**** and I love my bikini underwear!

  14. Jason says:

My only complaint about men’s thong and bikini briefs are, that if you’re larger than a 42 inch (106 cm) in the waist, it is very difficult to find a bikini that fits comfortable. Many of us larger-framed men have had to result to wearing women’s panties because we cannot find anything comfortable made for men. Some manufacturers of men’s underwear (Fruit of the Loom and Hanes) won’t even openly advertise that they make and sell bikini and thong underwear for men… as if they are somehow ashamed of the fact that they would even make such things!

  15. Jason says:

Turnabout is fair play! Why should women get the privilege to wear underwear that is fun and sexy, while men are only given the choice of boring, mundane boxers and Y-Front briefs (granny panties for men)! We like to feel sexy for our women too. I love wearing things that delights and pleases my woman. And I am overjoyed and flattered when she buys me sexy thongs and bikinis to wear for her excitement!

  16. Bt says:

I wear men’s thongs and g strings just about every single day!! They are very comfortable!! And my female roommate loves catching a peek every so often!! I actually bought my first micro g string last week!! Not much there for the imagination! Love it!!

  17. Jason says:

Back in the 70s, 80s and even the early 90s a lot more American men wore bikini-style underwear and swimwear. I remember going into local department stores to shop and you would see a huge variety in bikini, string bikini, thong and low-rise briefs. Now, you’re lucky if you find one brand of bikini briefs that they stock… maybe some string bikinis, but never any thongs. K-Mart used to have a good selection of Joe Boxer thongs, bikinis and string bikinis, but I don’t know now. There are no more K-Mart stores in Texas.

At some point in the 1990s attitudes changed and now men are ashamed of themselves… not manly to wear anything other than boxer briefs now. I blame feminism and the rise of political correctness. Women’s empowerment overtook everything else. Men have been indoctrinated to believe that we are all rapists, or potential rapists. Men are afraid to wear speedos to water parks and public pools because they are afraid that some overprotective mother will call the police because their daughter asked “Mommy, why is that man wearing panties?” Next thing you know, he’s arrested for public indecency and has to register as a sex offender.

Meanwhile women can wear whatever they want to any public water park, pool, beach, etc. Bikinis so skimpy that they accentuate every curve and crevice of their vaginas. Women’s swimwear leaves NOTHING to the imagination! It’s almost like Saudi Arabia… but it’s reversed here and men have to cover their bodies while women can wear whatever they want to.

  18. Bill says:

This is so true. In the early 90’s you never saw women’s thongs. Only mens. Thankfully my girlfriend back then that is now my wife loved me in bikinis and thongs and still does to this day. I’m curious to see if other guys on this site remember this as well. I can even remember her saying at one point that her bikini panties looked like my bikinis. I’d love to hear from others on this.

  19. Mark Henning says:

I prefer to wear no underwear and love having the freedom but have always worn cut-off jeans at the beach or pool. Recently, however, my Ukrainian girlfriend wants me to wear a bikini… I have shared photos of myself in my bikini swimwear to her friends just to get used to this change… they also like me better in a bikini. Nice to read comments from men who have been wearing bikinis in public who are not gay. My girlfriend does not like thongs on men or women and thinks it inappropriate for butts of adults being seen by children.

  20. Ken Mack says:

I am 60 years old and have worn bikinis, thongs and G-strings for over 40 years. I love the fit and how comfortable they are. I have also been wearing thongs and G-strings on beaches for years. I am straight and have no problem showing off what i wear on public beaches. With the ME 2 movement, there can no longer be the discrimination that there once was towards men wearing skimp suits on the beach. The women can almost be naked and no one gives it a second thought. Well now everything for everybody has to be equal. So thong away guys and enjoy. Last year we spent four months wintering in Mexico. I wore a thong or G-string every single day on the beach. Got a few negative looks and comments. Mostly the looks were positive and nice smiles or thumbs up. Best winter of my life.
