Kiniki Amazon Swim Tanga Review

Kiniki Amazon Swim Brief ReviewWith the weather warming up here, I thought it was time to do a swim brief review. This is a little bit of a throwback review, but it is still available just not in the color I bought. I purchased the Amazon Swim Tanga back in 1999. Surprising thing is it was my first swim brief and more so I went with the bold color of lime. Not sure what I was thinking. Not the color choice nor really the style if you don’t want to stick out like a sore thumb! Needless to say these didn’t make a public appearance. I did wear them some in secluded areas, but mostly they became the pair I wore under my swim shorts.

Personally, I really like this string bikini swim brief and it’s fit. I’d go with a different color next time, so it would have a chance for a public appearance. The bikini offers lots of leg freedom with it’s 1/2″ sides. The back I’d say is in between a 3/4 and a full and it stays where it belongs. The pouch is a lined v-shape with a little bit of a contour stitching at the base of the pouch, but mostly a flat front. It does offer excellent support. I’m not sure what it is made out of, since there is no tag in mine, but the listing on their website says a poly lycra blend.

Last I checked Kiniki carries the Amazon Tanga, but only in black. They do offer some other swim tanga options.

My Rating Overview

Support Rating: 5.0
Overall Comfort: 5.0
Recommendation: Two thongs up

I bought mine more recently, coral blue. They are defenitly a 3/4back, and I really like it. The drawback is the front, not so nice shape, and not hugging all the way down under. But still like the style.

The mention of the name Kiniki takes me back many, many years to when I was a regular customer of that company. Their catalogues were full of handsome guys wearing styles of underwear/swimwear that made your average high street range of undies look like Bermuda shorts. Over the years I bought dozens of g-strings,thongs,tangas and swimwear(some of which I still have to this day).Their half back tangas were a particular favourite of mine, but a few of them, including the Amazon that you reviewed, tended to flatten the package rather than enhance it. I still receive their catalogue from time to time, but I personally think that their range has become a bit too safe. Oh for the days of the super sexy Kiniki gigolo g-string.

    • Kiniki has brought back their g-strings. I haven’t tried them, since they brought them back. To me though they look like along the lines of their Gigolo. Owned one too, but like their other style of g-strings better. Here’s my post on their g-strings when I saw they had them again. http://www.the-bottom-drawer.com/kiniki-has-brought-back-their-g-strings/ Kiniki also added the Allure collection, which I think is suppose to be them reaching out into the daring realm, but not really to my liking. You are right the Amazon bikini isn’t an enhancing one with it’s flat front.

Hi BD, how does Kiniki sizing work? I’m a 34 waist (although slightly overweight atm). For underwear, L or XL works for me depending on the style. Does their stuff fit tight/snug or the opposite?

    • I’d say they are snug fitting. Snuggness does depend some on the pair. The mediums fit me fine. I’m probably floating 33 and mediums are suppose to be 32 to 34. By their charts you’d be a medium. Since you usually wear L or XL then you may want to play it with a large with them too. They’re suppose to fit 35 to 37.
