Review: AWRY RAW V-String Thong

AWRY RAW V-String thong underwear
AWRY is a new brand that reached out to me to see if I wanted to give some of their products a try. They’re based in Texas and started in early 2023. This v-string is one I picked to give a try. It’s not what I think of when I hear v-string. I know why it is named that, since the back looks like a V especially when not on. I might call it a y-string though I know that is also used for a different back design. Here’s why I would like to categorize it as a y-string. When the pair is on the straps come together and form the stem of the Y between the cheeks. When the strings come out the top of the cheeks they form the top of the Y. In any case it’s not a thong style you see offered very often at all. I had a similar cut pair before with slightly different construction, which I’ll touch on in a bit.

This thong is made of a blend of 83% polyamide and 17% Spandex. It features a center seamed contour pouch. It has a lower rise in the front than most of my pairs of underwear. The sides measure at about 1/2″. What would be the tail, I’m going to say measures about an inch, since it is both sides between the cheeks. The thong can be washed, but hanging to dry is recommended. The thong is made in China. These have the label sewn on the one side and slides back and forth on it. It is designed to be cut off to allow for comfort.

Like I said this is a different take on the thongs we typically see. On this pair the sides are sewn to the base of the pouch, so you have two ½” sides attached down there. This is kind of like jockstrap construction. Then you slip each side between the cheeks to create the thong look. The pair I had before this had the two sides sewn together partially to form the start of the tail and attached to the base of the pouch, but you still got the same similar look as these.

A couple more notes on the back of this thong. With the design of the thong you get to pick the placement of the back, which I find affects comfort. Took me a little bit to find the sweet spot for me. The back of the thong also kind of pulls the cheeks apart, so a bit of a different feel than a normal cut thong. For the most part the thong is comfortable. At times I can feel where the sides attach to the base of the pouch. Usually when there is discomfort it is from how I am sitting, which isn’t always the best posture. When I’m up and moving I’ve had no issues with the thong.

I love the fabric of the thong. It clings well and molds to the package. It supports me well and doesn’t allow me to move much at all, which I really like. Aesthetically I don’t really like the look of the back on me. I like how the traditional cut frames my backside better. I’ve said it before that it isn’t always about how a pair looks on, but how it feels on. This is a fun pair to wear. It does take a bit of time to adjust the back side when you pull them on, but that is part of the fun with the pair. Personally, it is probably not one I want multiple in my drawer, but it will be fun to have one pair to change things up now and then.

My Rating Overview

I bought one also. Your review was exactly my feelings on overall comfort and feel. I like it as one of those fun designs to be different but I won’t need a draw full.

This thong has a fun design for the rear. I’m not sure it would be a design I’d want to wear all the time. I’ve seen the thong on social media – I don’t know that I have enough butt to hold it up lol.

I bought two pairs of these during their buy one get one free sale and love the design. I had always wanted to try this style of back. For me it was very comfortable for all day wear. Wore it to work where I stand about half the day and sit the other half and had no issues. I would recommend everyone to try it at least once.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on them. They are definitely worth a try if someone is interested in the design.

Thanks for explaining the design at the back. I’ve looked at this design earlier, and that was the thing missing from AWRY’s photos. Your second photo and description explain the construction well.
