Bikinis or Not: What a Shame

Bikinis or not: What a Shame

The point of my blog is to get the message out that bikinis, thongs, swim briefs and the like are something guys can wear. Also it is to be a place to help support guys wanting to try them out, but are hesitant. I think those things are being done. Unfortunately, It is hard to reach people beyond those looking for such a place. Usually I don’t see positivity toward what we like to wear in the mass media. Now in the last couple of weeks or so I’ve seen a few things that are on the women’s front that I think are not right.

The first one Randy (ralange on the forums) found and posted in the forums. A guy was walking the beach holding a sign that said “Christian women dress modest.” 1 Timothy 2:9 then had Repent turn to Jesus after it. First off in my opinion he is giving Christians a bad name, because that is not how the Word should be spread. I’m no Biblical scholar, but I believe the verse is taken out of context. It also is not even the complete verse. I’ll stop at that with the religious part. From reading the article, it seems like the guy stopped in front of her on his own. By the Instagram video, I think he stopped, because she asked a question. Though you can’t get the whole story from a short video clip. Either way it is still odd to me to go to a beach to walk while holding a sign like that.

Another instance was an article I came across which was about a Welsh Paralympian track athlete. She had a female official tell her her sprint brief was too short and not appropriate and should consider buying shorts. From what I saw it wasn’t any different than the briefs I’ve seen many track athletes wear. So why did the official signal this athlete out? Maybe not the first one she said it to, but the first athlete to call the official out.

Then the last one is opposite of you need to dress more modest. Norway’s beach handball team got fined for wearing shorts to play one of their matches in by the European handball authority. The rules state that the women must wear bikini bottoms. You heard that right they are required to wear bikini bottoms. Of course men are to wear shorts. I thought it was pretty shocking they were required to wear bikini bottoms especially this day in age. Beach volleyball has alternative uniforms to the bikini. Though many of the women opt for the bikini still. I believe guys are still required to wear shorts. It seems as long as the uniform is the same for the whole team why should it matter if it is shorts or a bikini/brief cut for either sex. Wouldn’t men get the same benefit as women from wearing a bikini cut?

I’m sure there are other instances out there, but these are the ones I’ve recently seen. The handball one was the most surprising to me. I just wanted to point out that women are having issues with what they want/are wearing or required to wear. Let’s continue the quest and keep an eye out for women that aren’t getting the respect for what they want to wear either.

I heard about the handball team too. I think it is rather archaic.
Though I stand by them if they want to wear shorts, I support the logic for them wearing bikinis.
Bikinis are for practical reasons, as the sport is played in hot weather, and there is usually sand, but maybe some don’t want to be all that exposed.
I think society has given people too much ability to affect others lives, who has nothing to do with those outside of our own person, other than to just be saying something because you can. People should just leave other people alone.

I can’t remember where I seen the comments but. It was said that board shorts help to keep from getting rashes/burns on the guys legs. But woman surfers wear cheeky bikini suits.
Let’s face it that society & social media over the years has demmed the male body gross and disgusting. Some brave souls still show off the male body but very few.
Just last night I rode a stationary bike at the hotel then went for a swim to cool off. I didn’t put my cover up shorts on after the swim. I wore a sting bikini stuff it pouch with a pucker back. When I got the elevator one man was walking up to them, he stopped as if wasn’t going to ride with me. Then two younger men (kids to me) said hold the door. After that the other man got on. One of the kids asked if I was coming from the pool and I said yes. Then he asked what time it closes.
So one guy was uncomfortable to share the elevator with me but as soon as the other two showed he stepped in. I could tell he was still uncomfortable.

Hi Randy, I don’t think it was seeing you in a skimpy bikini that made that guy think twice about joining you in the lift. More likely is was the fact that you were humming “Love in an elevator” under your breath that made him hesitate(lol). Sounds like the two younger guys were cool about your skimpy attire, which is refreshing.
Was thinking what I would have done in that guy’s shoes, and to be honest, I would have walked right in and accidentally on purpose pressed every floor button so that I had more time to quiz you about your bikini while desperately trying to maintain eye contact. Lol

The women surfers are just tougher. Though when they do wear shorts they are typically not as long as the guys. Seems only the upper body of guys are shown off and then you are required to be muscular. That is not me. My opinion is my lower body has better definition in the legs and rear. So I’ll continue to do my best to keep putting myself out there in a swim bikini brief the best I can too. Nice to see the younger guys seem to respect your choice in swimwear.

I came across the article on why women beach volleyball players are still opting for the bikini. Well, why the one in the article at least does, but must be similar to others otherwise they wouldn’t continue to wear them.

I don’t see why the men wouldn’t benefit in the same way.

That’s exactly what I understand about the board shorts, that they are for leg protection, hence the name. Although surfers have to get in water at times, that style was not meant for general swimming.
