Underwear Quote: Carine Roitfeld

Carine Roitfeld underwear quote

It’s time for a quote. This one is from the French fashion editor Carine Roitfeld.

“We are very lucky to be women, so even if we’re wearing trousers, I always wear them with some lace underwear or a very feminine bra – I like that.”

I’ll agree that women are lucky to have the ease they do with underwear. They can wear basically any style they want without any stigmas really attached to the style. They can be sexy or not. Then they have the option to buy their underwear in person if they like. Most stores offer a wide variety for the ladies.

Now being a fashion editor she should know guys have options similar to women. No, I don’t want to wear feminine underwear under my pants. The point of the quote to me is she can wear underwear that makes her feel different than what she feels her outer layer represents. It’s sad that fashion magazines do nothing to represent the skimpy underwear styles we enjoy and just stick too much to the norm.

I’m thankful that my interest in women in bikinis and thongs led me to wonder how wearing them would be like. Luckily I discovered that Kmart carried bikinis fairly early on for guys and was able to get my hands on some in high school. What a truly arousing experience it was (yes, pun tended). Obviously it had an impact on me, because I’m blogging about it. I probably think way too much about it. Just wearing bikinis and thongs make my day so much more enjoyable.

So I’m very lucky that I get to wear something that makes me feel good about myself and sexy. Brings me pleasure shopping for, talking about, catching the wife taking a peek, and more. Time for the fashion world to wake up and let guys know bikinis and thongs are not just for the women.

It takes time for things to be accepted socially- there probably weren’t guys even thinking wearing the good stuff decades ago , not even women their underwear has come a long way. Social media has a lot to with it, underwear shopping online etc. And look at the big picture- things that weren’t socially acceptable decades ago that are now

Underwear is awesome because you can wear whatever kind, style, fabric or pattern you want whenever you want. Even though most people won’t see it I feel like it gives you the chance to express yourself every day.

The ease of shopping online has been a boon for those of us who prefer to wear the styles of sexy underwear that the fashion world and other media outlets would deem unacceptable for men to wear, but it seems unlikely that those beliefs are going to soften in the foreseeable future. I think we’d all agree with Nate that wearing a cheeky little number can make us feel good about ourselves and even more desirable.
As has often been said before on this blog,we all have to do our bit to encourage other guys to try wearing skimpier styles, but in all honesty, who among us has had the courage to start a discussion about thongs, speedos etc with our male friends and colleagues?

Yes it seems like they are missing the boat, you just don’t see as much mention in the fashion world of guys wearing skimpy underwear compared to women. Though I can reminder one post from a lingerie designer had a posted on blog about a double standard when it came to women and men wearing sexy underwear. She had brought up the fairness of why guys can’t wear sexy underwear when its simply the norm for women. Of course there was mixed comments on this post, but i thought that was awesome that a women’s lingerie designer was trying trying to bring some awareness that it should be more acceptable . You would just think that if women like wearing sexy underwear under their trousers, it certainly should be acceptable for men too!
