Swim Briefs of Summer 2023

Now that we had our first snowfall of the year, I guess I should do my summer swim brief recap for some warm memories. This year swim briefs only made an appears on vacation. We ended up not making it to the local beach this summer. Instead the local water park got visited several times, but it’s not a place I feel comfortable at this time wearing swim briefs.
Although the weather at Myrtle Beach wasn’t as nice as our last trip, it was still a good vacation even with the rain mixed in. This year we headed further up in North Myrtle Beach and went with a smaller condo and in general less large condo developments in the area. I personally liked the area better than our previous trip. It was less crowded and I also liked the beach area in general better.
Day 1- Arrival
We arrived on a Saturday late afternoon, so it was too late for any beach time. So once we got ourselves settled in we got our swimsuits on for the pool and lazy river. I chose my blue Turlock & Co swim brief for this first pool trip. Not much was happening at the pool or lazy river this evening, so we had the place to ourselves.
Day 2 – First Full Day
Sunday was our first beach day. I already decided which swimsuit I was going to wear first to the beach before we hit the road. It was going to be my new 2eros v10 swim brief. We made it to the beach late morning, so a good amount of people were already there. We picked our spot and got settled in. As I learned and am fairly comfortable with, especially on vacation I removed my shorts and shirt like everything is normal for me. I guess it is pretty normal for me now at the beach. We spent time in the water, some seashell hunting, and catching some rays. That evening we spent some time in the pool and lazy river. I stuck with the same swim brief. Only a few people were in the pool and lazy river area.
Day 3 – Not Backing Down
Well, the real sticking to my guns was Monday. The sister-in-law and kids arrived Sunday evening. That meant it would be the first beach day we’d both be there. The first time I’d be wearing a swim brief around them. Not that the situation has presented itself in many years. I hadn’t had my swim brief break through the last time we were at a place we would be wearing swimwear. The suit I decided on was my red, blue, and white Turlock & Co swim brief.
We arrived to the beach before them and picked out our spot. That made it much easier to just get down to my swim brief. At some point they came down to the beach. Either we weren’t at our place or they didn’t look for us…most likely the latter. Well, when my wife discovered where they were she went over to them along with the kids to say where we were. I stayed behind in the seat. Surprisingly (sarcasm here), they didn’t move closer to us.
When the kids came back they wanted to take their boogie boards out with their one cousin. So I got up and took them out in the ocean where their cousin was and helped them catch some waves. Their other cousin came out at one point for a bit also. Their third one stuck with catching some rays. Once done with boogie boarding we went back to our chairs. At some point the sister-in-law stopped by to say hi and talk a few minutes. Then after supper we hit the pool and lazy river again. I again went with my blue Turlock swim brief.
Day 4 – Local Exploration
Tuesday was a day we checked out some local attractions, so we didn’t go to the beach. We did make sure we got a little evening pool time. I stuck with my blue Turlock swim brief another time.
Day 5 – Swim Brief Back on the Beach
On to Wednesday and another beach day. It was suggested I should go with my new 2EROS swim brief again since it is a beachy looking pattern. I obliged. We did our normal things. Some time in the water and some time in the sun. My wife and I did take about a mile stroll that afternoon. I continued to wear my 2EROS for the pool that evening.
Day 6 – Mostly a Wash Out
Thursday was a rainy morning and on and off showers, so we did some checking out of places. We were able to take advantage of the pool and lazy river like the other evenings. I went back to my blue Turlock swim brief.
Day 7 – Last Swim Brief Beach Day
Friday, the last beach day, it was time to switch to my Sluggers Classic swim brief. I think it is a fun pattern. We just enjoyed the beach again with water play, enjoying the sun, and seashell hunting. The pool also saw the Sluggers swim brief.
As you can see I’ve successfully stuck with my swim brief wearing to the beach. I would say things went pretty much how I imagined with the sister-in-law and her kids on vacation. They for the most part did their own thing and didn’t hangout at the beach or the pool area with us. Now the cousins stopped by the pool here and there for short periods over the week. Then the sister-in-law did stop and talked to us some when we were sitting on the beach a few of the days. That was about the extent of it. Some might think they avoided us because of swim brief embarrassment, but it’s more what they typically do.
It was pretty much a normal beach vacation. Exactly how it should be even when not opting for what most other guys wear. I didn’t see any other swim brief wearers. There were at least several in shorter swim trunks. Not sure where the Speedo growth is in this article is at, but I didn’t see it on vacation.
Ways to Support The Bottom Drawer by Shopping

Congrats on another successful summer of swim brief wearing. I only hope to gain the confidence you have on a family vacation!
You are really an inspiration to us all on how to own wearing a swim brief in public.
I am encouraged and inspired by your stories of getting comfortable in your briefs at the beach. For those of us who enjoy wearing briefs and fashionable underwear, it’s comforting to read your thoughts, to see your approach, to cheer you on and to share in your successes. Thank you for sharing.
Always look forward to hearing about your summer holiday swim brief wearing adventures. Such a shame that you don’t seem to come across guys in similar attire, but hopefully your persistence in flying the flag for speedos will inspire some of them to at least consider giving them a try. Would love to fly you to Sicily to see your reaction when you step on the beach and find yourself amongst guys of all ages in skimpy swimwear. You might even be inspired to break out those string bikinis you’ve been longing to show off in public(lol).
Would be sad if you wearing a speedo was such an embarrassment to your sister in law that she limited her time with you, although you did say she and her family tend to do their own thing. Mind you, I imagine there’ll be some guys reading this who would gladly wear the skimpiest bikini if it meant keeping less popular members of their extended family at a distance(lol).
This has been a magnificent summer in the north of Spain, where I live. It lasted until October 12, coinciding with the National Holiday of Spain.
Even so, my last day of swimming at the beach was Sunday, November 5th.
For me it has been a summer of 100% swim briefs, of which I have 13 in use.
Since the family, both children and adults, have gradually gotten used to seeing me dressed like this in previous years, there was no problem.
I even dared to wear a thong on wild beaches and I admit that it was a great experience.
Well done on pushing your swim brief envelope this summer. It’s a bit of a shame your SiL doesn’t get it, but that’s her problem not yours. Hats off to you for persisting on wearing what you want to, summer is starting here in Australia and I’ve been busy buying new swim bikinis and especially some brightly coloured thongs. I intend to really push my envelope this summer, as most of my swim things are smaller than my wife’s 😂😂
Love your sluggers.
Well, I don’t know if she doesn’t get it. She didn’t say anything to my wife about it that I know of. It is not unusual they didn’t set up beside us. They normally do their own thing. Thanks, I really like the print of my Sluggers suit too!
My wife and I have a condo in South Beach (Miami Beach). I am never the only person wearing brief swimwear to the beach or pool. You would feel right at home there, have you ever considered visiting SoBe?
I heard South Beach is the place to not be alone in swim briefs and even thongs. No, we haven’t looked at going that far to the beach. Myrtle beach is quite the drive for us. It’s doable in a day, but typically make it a two day drive.
So why not get on a plane and fly to Miami or Fort Lauderdale sometime,, especially if you will be more comfortable wearing a bikini or a thong. Based on your writings in this blog, this should be very enjoyable for you and your wife seems supportive. I encourage you to go for it.
Myrtle Beach is similar to the beaches of NC I frequent. This past summer there were a couple of younger guys wearing shorter bathing suits, but most were at least knee length. My shorts were probably a little below mid thigh and that is probably as far as my confidence is going.
