2022 Underwear and Swimwear Brainstorming

underwear swimwear brainstorming

After my wrap up post I started trying to think of what should come in 2022. I wasn’t just thinking blog, but personally and kind of in general with the underwear and swimwear landscape. Most know my goal is to normalize bikinis, thongs, and the like for guys or really everyone as underwear and swimwear options. Can add tights or leggings into it too now. It’s kind of hard to believe that people don’t see these items of clothing as a choice for guys. So in 2022, I want to figure out ways to promote them to more than those finding my blog, which is still in the brainstorming process.

Now, I’m a very reserved person. I do not like being the center of attention. I’m terrible at striking up conversations. You may think I push boundaries, but I really don’t. I typically don’t care what people think though. I don’t know if anyone would believe I wear bikini and thong underwear that knows me or has known me. They’d be shocked to see me wearing a swim bikini brief at the beach. Why am I telling you this? Because if I can wear a swim bikini in public, you can too. Our biggest way of reaching people not looking online for what we like is to allow others to see us in them. Of course we should do it in a natural way. That’s probably our easiest way to try and promote them.

Bikinis, Thongs, and Tights and Me

Ok, let’s talk a bit on a personal level for 2022. For me, I’ve been pretty comfortable wearing bikinis and thongs as underwear. It’s felt normal for me for many years now. Only improvement I can think there is opting for a thong when I may be seen in my undies instead of a bikini. I tend to gravitate toward bikinis in those situations, but have sported a thong before. Another thing I could do is try to start a conversation on the subject with someone in person. Though thinking might be better to do that with swimwear. Plus I do have a friend that probably wouldn’t look oddly on it. Not sure how to step the game up on my swim bikini brief wearing. I don’t think I have what it takes to wear a swim brief at the local water park, which I’m sure we’ll go to this summer. Though it would probably be an awesome experience, so I can’t rule it out. I’ll work on my mindset for it. Guess my goal is to not back down from swim brief wearing if going to the beach with other people then the wife and kids. If I want to normalize swim briefs, I just have to keep chugging along. My new adventure is tights or leggings. You won’t see me out wearing them running errands or will you? Most likely not though maybe if I get some subtle ones it could happen. I however will be wearing them more in 2022. They’ve been enjoyable as just daily wear around the house and for hikes and walks. My first step with them seems like it should be to start normalizing them around the wife and kids for more than just exercising. Maybe some more things I should try to do in 2022 will come to me with it being early in the year. I just need to keep putting myself out there and enjoy wearing what I want to wear.

The Bottom Drawer Blog

The blog comes down to content content content. A good way for me to come up with content is creating personal experience. Maybe some of the things above will become content this year. Hopefully I’ll have some good experiences to share this year. I’m thinking conversation and Q&As need to come back this year. I thought I did none last year, but saw I did a Married Str8 Trio one. I’ll see who I can find to join me in some posts in 2022. As I mentioned in the wrap up post there will be reviews of more items from Posher rayv50 along with some other pairs I have in hand. I allot myself a pair a month to try and control my spending. Doesn’t really work that well! Don’t forget you can help with a post by sharing your underwear and/or swimwear collection. Check out the post on it here. I’m thinking maybe adding other ways you can join in if you like, so stay tuned. There is a good chance I’ll talk about tights and leggings a bit this year. I’m looking for affordable heavier weight tights if anyone has some recommendations. Having a phone pocket would be a plus. Preferably not much more than $20. My hardest thing with the blog is trying not to repeat content too much. Also thinking about hunting down a new look for the blog. Current one isn’t really cutting it with Google. Those are some thoughts on the blog.

Social Media

This is more a shameless plug than a brainstorming section. The place to be for social media is Instagram and Twitter. Those two platforms I spend more time with. If you want a chance to see pictures of me then pay attention to stories on Instagram. I’ve been throwing an occasional picture or more up there. Lately it has been me in tights, but maybe there will be some others at some point in time. I’m also on Facebook, but normally just say when a post is out there and sometimes sales or articles I come across. I do Pinterest occasionally. At the bottom of my social media time is Tumblr, which is stagnant most of the time. Any social media sites you think I should be on that I am not?

The Bikini and Thong Forums

Not sure if there is much brainstorming needed for the forums. Do we need any new sections? Any need for an off topic area? Remember discussion should be aimed at the rating PG-13 at the most there. It’s a great place for discussions with like minded individuals. Thanks again to T aka Tanga Tanga on the forums with help moderating them.

Bikinis, Thongs, and More Magazine

The Bottom Drawer Magazine CoverI hinted at this in the 2021 wrap up post. I threw an idea out there at the beginning of last year about an underwear and swimwear magazine. There was interest in it from about the 50 that filled out the survey. Now, I’m not sure how to go about trying to get people to collaborate on one or really how much time would be required to put one together regularly. I still think it could be a fun thing to do, but is the effort worth it?.

Well, those are some things bouncing around in my head. I can only hope some more stuff will join the bouncing. Thanks to everyone voicing their support on my wrap up post. Hoping to bring some good stuff in 2022.

My favorite leggings are 2XU. A little pricy. But an excellent choice especially for the gym. I usually wear a thong under them. And they are the best for lounging or workouts. Please let me know what you think.

They are a pretty penny, but there are some nice looking ones. Looks like might be a little cheaper buying from a sports store, but still quite a bit. Some of the outlet ones would fit into a splurge price range.

    Hi Nate

Hope you and the members are doing well. From the editors post, get it. It seems this year is start to great things.

We are happy to hear about these things. Wearing a swim thong instead of brief.. You really thinking of being exactly who you want to be.

Then the friend I think be you if it goes that way then great. Don’t plan the date for the conversation. Rather speak about it in every interaction. Till it becomes a real conversation. Initially it will feel you interviewing him or he will ask why you asking this, which can through you off.

Leggings is the best. Like I wish I also could just throw them on whenever I wanted to. However, in my world it’s still just a exercise or hiking item.
As always wishing you, the family, the blog and the members well. To good health, fitness and sexy underwear.

Not sure we’ll be seeing a swim thong this year, but continuing with swim briefs is the plan. I’m not really planning on a conversation. If we’re talking about something along the lines that would relate to swim briefs then maybe I’ll try to work it in. Leggings aren’t common around my area. Might see some guys running in them, but shorts seem to have to go along with them a lot of the times.

Nate, I’ve really enjoyed your blog and engaging in the forums during 2021. It’s nice to talk with like minded men about the underwear and swimwear styles we enjoy wearing in an atmosphere free from negative judgement. I think it’s good for guys to talk about these things and understand that there is nothing wrong with wearing thongs and bikinis. It’s a bold expression of who you are. As far as adding to the forums, one idea that came up in a post I made was to add a section for thong and bikini finds in brick and mortar stores. It’s exciting to find these styles in actual stores, even though selection might be limited. Its a unique experience to buy thongs or skimpy bikinis in a store. Plus, retailers need to know we’re out here and there’s a market for men’s thongs.

One of my goals lately and going into 2022 is to upgrade my wardrobe and how I dress in general. I have tried to become more style conscious in men’s clothing and being intentional in how I dress. When I dress well I feel better about myself. Most men see underwear as an after thought, but to me it should be just as important as the rest of my outfit. We know how good it feels to wear a nice fitting thong or brief. And while people can’t see your underwear, that confidence shows in how you carry yourself. I will be looking to upgrade my underwear and your articles have been helpful.

Your idea about the magazine is exciting! I don’t really know anything about digital publishing or distribution. I think you’ve got a pretty good audience to get one started though. I would keep it to a quarterly or at least a bi-monthly publication, that way you have time to come up with articles and graphics.

    Best of luck in 2022!

Thanks, glad you are enjoying the community. I added a brick and mortar store area where we can share those in store finds or where actual men’s underwear/swimwear stores are too.

I’m better at thinking about my underwear than my outerwear, but you are right that most guys do not think much about their underwear. More women seem to think about both, but I think many are still lacking on thinking about their underwear over their outerwear.

It’s kind of why I decided to play with creating a magazine related to the blog that I can continue to add to. That way it is a learning experience for maybe a true one. We’ll see what happens.

You are on the right track, noting that most mainstream underwear users are not necessarily seeking out this content in the web.

Some ideas for promoting bikini/thong usage to those who might not see the site:
    1. Most guys probably don’t differentiate much between briefs and bikinis. Especially with the popularity of low-rise and hip briefs. In locker room situations, try to stick with a thong, or at the very least a string bikini.
    2. Take the leap and try a thong for a beach trip. Depending on laws of course. Here in Texas it is permitted. This is something I’ve been trying to work myself up to. I have a lot of anxiety over this. But it’s a goal for 2022.
    3. On your own social media, maybe post a family (G-rated) beach pic where you are wearing a speedo. Maybe just a glimpse of it, while you are standing with your wife, or playing with your kids. Nothing blatant, but enough to get seen. I did this last year and I got a lot of comments, especially from women.

I’m not much of a writer, but I’d be happy to participate in any posts you are needing input for. I’ve been meaning to share my own collection, as well as a follow up post on my beach trip with the in-laws I mentioned last year.

    • The Bottom Drawer says:

Yes, we’ll have to put ourselves out there, but of course need to do our best to do it naturally. I think with the lack of anything other than shorts at the beach anything form fitting on a guy is pushing it in most places. Plus it is hard to find thong friendly places in many areas. Though maybe that will change some with what seems like a cheeky trend in women’s swimwear. Neither my wife or I participate at a personal level on social media. I’m not much of a writer either. Not something I’m natural at for sure and can take me awhile to write some of the posts even the short ones.

I got to practice what I preach a bit today, albeit unintentionally.
I would up at the ER this morning for a chest and stomach X-ray (swallowed a toothpick- ouch)
Anyhow. The tech asked me to take off my jeans for the stomach x-ray. I’m not sure why this was necessary, but I did end up having to stand in my t-shirt and bikinis while I pout on a gown.
A thong would have been fun, but I was honestly a bit relieved not to be wearing one at that moment.
Not sure if it was obvious to the guy that I was wearing a bikini rather than just a brief, with my shirt covering the top part. But either way, he definitely got an eyeful of teal Lycra. Lol
